Der Bezirk Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf hat
eine Fläche von rund 6.472 ha und zählt
316.887 Einwohner (Stand 31.12.2007).
Charlottenburg ist ein Berliner Ortsteil mit
sehr vielen Gesichtern, die von Villenkolo-
nien in Westend bis zum Kiez um den
Klausener Platz, der einstigen Heimat
Heinrich Zilles, reichen. Rund 200.000
Menschen leben hier. Viele der Berliner
Sehenswürdigkeiten liegen im Ortsteil
Charlottenburg, der zum Bezirk Charlot-
tenburg-Wilmersdorf gehört. Der Kurfürs-
tendamm, das Schloss Charlottenburg, der
Funkturm, das Theater des Westens, der
Zoo und das Olympiastadion – alles Orte in
Charlottenburg, die jedes Jahr Tausende
Touristen anziehen. Gleichzeitig ist Char-
lottenburg auch einer der beliebtesten
Wohnorte im westlichen Teil der Stadt.
Neben viel städtischer Bebauung und
großen Grünflächen war und ist Char-
lottenburg auch ein Ort des Gewerbes und
der Industrie. Die Technische Universität
liegt hier genauso wie die Berliner Börse.

Charlottenburg is a multifaceted district
with a broad spectrum of different areas
ranging from the elegant Westend
neighbourhood to the busy quarter around
Klausener Platz, once home to the famous
working-class illustrator Heinrich Zille.
Approximately 200,000 people live in the
district. Many of Berlin’s major landmarks
are to be found in Charlottenburg, which
makes up half of the borough of
Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf. The Kurfürs-
tendamm shopping boulevard, Charlotten-
burg Palace, the Radio Tower, the Theater
des Westens, the world-famous zoo and
the Olympic Stadium are all situated in the
district, ensuring it is always thronged with
tourists. Charlottenburg is also one of the
most popular residential districts in the
western half of the city. It offers a charm-
ing mix of urban areas and large green spa-
ces and is a popular location for trade and
industry. The Technische Universität and the
Berlin stock exchange are situated here.
