Humboldt Viadrina School of Governance genutzt.
Of the surviving building stock, the building at Wilhelmstaße
67 was converted into the Landesvertretung
Berlin (the Representation of Berlin to the
Federal Council of Germany) between 1998-2001.
This part of the complex now belongs to the special
assets of the state of Berlin and is used by the Humboldt
Viadrina School of Governance.
Known as the Robert Koch Forum, the building stock
on the advertised property is used by a number of
hospital institutions. The Institute of Microbiology
and Hygiene and the Institute of Pharmacological
Toxicology and Cardiovascular Pharmacology are
located at Dorotheenstraße 94, 96; the tract at Bunsenstraße
1 is currently not in use.
The complex was named in honour of Professor
Robert Koch, who was the first director of the
Institute of Hygiene until 1891. On 24 March 1882,
he gave his epochal lecture on the cause of tuberculosis
in the institute’s library – his work on the
subject earned him the Nobel Prize for medicine
in 1905. In remembrance of this lecture, the WHO
marks every 24 March as World Tuberculosis Day.
