Maßnahmen zur Förderung der
Informationskompetenz durch den
Fachinformationsanbieter ZPID

With increased access to the Internet barriers to researching scientific information
have fallen sharply. Improvements to user interfaces and inexpensive prices
should contribute to further widespread use. However, usage is not as prolific as
it should be, even among researchers. Scientists as well as students often use
simple, unspecific Internet search engines instead of quality databases to research
information. Results of the SFS study “Use of Electronic Information in
Higher Education” show that the use of electronic sources of scientific information
is not sufficiently ankered in university education, information exchange
among students is inadequate, and information resources are experienced as too
complex. Information literacy and knowledge management skills are not recognized
as key qualifications in higher education, and cooperation among various
information providers such as national information centers, academic and specialized
libraries, and university instructors is viewed as deficient. Results of the
SFS study as well as similar studies stress the importance of cooperation among
various information agents in the conceptualization, development, and testing of
training modules. As a national institute for psychology information, ZPID has
responded to this demand by providing online training materials for self-study
and use by university instructors.
Die Nutzung elektronischer wissenschaftlicher Information erweist sich in der
Hochschulausbildung bislang als defizitär. Im folgenden Beitrag werden bestehende
Defizite aufgezeigt und die daraus resultierenden Ansatzpunkte und konkreten
Maßnahmen zur Förderung von Informationskompetenz durch das Zentrum
für Psychologische Information und Dokumentation (ZPID) als Fachinformationseinrichtung
dargestellt. Neben allgemeinen konzeptuellen Überlegungen
zu entsprechenden Lehr- und Lernmodulen wird insbesondere die spezielle
Position einer Fachinformationseinrichtung im Kontext der Förderung von Informationskompetenz
beleuchtet.
