address.
First you will listen to two excerpts from the beginning of the speech (audio files). Then,
you will read the end of the speech (transcript).

1 Listen to two excerpts from President Barack Obama’s 2009 inaugural address. You
will hear both excerpts twice. Task 1a is based on the first and task 1b on the second
excerpt.
1a Before listening, you will have two minutes to look at the task. After listening to the
excerpt for the first time, you will have three minutes to fill in your answers. After
listening for the second time, you will have five minutes to complete the task.
