Fine illustrated work on corvidae [Raben] in
France, rare. The plates were done by Jules Terrier,
«préparateur de la chaire de mammalogie», important
taxidermist in France at the end of the 19th.
cent., who improved the quality of the models in
zoology, and printed by Imp. Becquet, Paris. Louis
Magaud d’Aubusson (1847–1917) was a famous
French ornithologist and a prominent member in

black. Contemporary flexible vellum, rubbed,
soiled, wrapped, shrinkled, little waterstained
in the beginnings and end. CHF 4500.–
Rare first edition, a work on a newly invented
instrument «Torquet» [Türkengerät] and how to
use it in surveying, astronomy and similar actions.
It is the first published work by an Hungarian
mathematician, incl. simple mathematics and the
description of astronomical and mathematical instrumentation.
The instrument was described in
the middle-ages by Franco and later by Regiomontanus,
it was frequently used in the 16 th century
