Seltene Erstausgabe eines der schönsten
Blumenbücher des 19. Jahrhunderts. Prévosts
Werk liefert zahlreiche Modelle für Kunsthandwerker
und Dekorateure. Die Einleitung von Mme
Gault de Saint-Germain, ehemals Anna Rajecka,
(ca. 1760–1832), erörtert die Anwendungsbereiche
der Modelle in Kunsthandwerk und Malerei.
48 prächtige, ganzseitige Farbstiche von Jean-
Louis Prévost: «The forty-eight plates in Collec tion
des Fleurs et des Fruits comprise a pleasantly varied
series of floral bouquets, and arrangements of soft
fruits on plates. Each work is skilfully composed
and imbued with a transparent luminosity, culminating
in the iridescent drops of water that seem
about top roll off the leaves» (Lucia Tobgiorgi Tomasi,
An Oak Spring Flora, nº 65). Prévost verwendete
die Pontillé-Technik, die später auch Redouté

Gill Saunders, «somptuous colour-printed equivalent[s]
to the floral pattern books of the seventeenth
century, botanically accurate images with a
primary decorative intent».
Ein unbeschnittenes, vollständiges Exemplar,
mit bemerkenswert leuchtkräftigen Farbstichen.
Die dekorativen Graphiken wurden häufig einzeln
verkauft. Deshalb sind vollständige Exemplare
äußerst selten.
Kleine Fehlerstellen an dem unrestaurierten, zeitgenössischen
Pappeinband.

Perhaps no other prints are more worthy of
carrying on the tradition of Jean Baptiste and van
Spaendonck than these fine examples of Prévost.
Whether bouquets or sprays of flowers or fruit,
they possess a splendour and freshness amounting
almost to fragrance, which is largely due to the
