The New Approach Directives are administrated by different federal departments. The department responsible for a directive is in charge
of the transposition into national regulation, the follow up of the application and the designation of notified bodies.
All candidates for notification have to apply for accreditation as a primary condition for notification.
The Belgian accreditation organisation is managed by the government (Ministry of Economic Affairs). The decision making Board for
granting accreditation is composed of technicians representing the different departments. The assessment team, designated for the
evaluation of a candidate for notification, is complemented with a representative of the department or authority in charge of the
administration of the directive.
