Thus, a more detailed focus than by TUHKANEN (1984) on criteria used to delimit these zones for the
sector discussed here would be highly useful, but it is suggested here that temperature sums would be
a very crucial basic parameter to include, and also to relate to various remote sensing-based criteria
integrating temperature sum effects. A particular problem is that zonal vegetation, at least in the west,
is quite homogeneous over large areas and difficult to explore as to temperature responding
