Globally active with local roots
In 1962, the company’s founder Anton
Bartholet started his own business
in Flums. Very soon he realized
the constructive weakness of the
existing land machines for use in
mountainous regions. He developed
a hay-making machine that could
also be used in very steep locations.
That was the start of industrial series
production and thus the basis
for the development over the following
decades. The ever broader range
of products ultimately necessitated
organisational and corporate diversification.
The land machines and
wood splitting machines division
remained under the management
of the company‘s founder at the
site in Laxstrasse whereas ropeway
construction and other newly integrated
divisions along with the BMF
logo have been located since 1995
at Lochriet industrial estate under
the management of Bartholet’s son

Amusement park facilities as a new
pillar of business
In addition to the construction of
mountain railways and ski lifts, the
division ‘amusement park facilities’
also developed very positively.
The company gained a new pillar of
business in 2001 when it took over
Metaschal AG. This was followed
in 2002 by the start of manufacturing
for handling systems for the
production of PET bottles. For the
mechanical processing, BMF has a
state-of-the-art equipped production
department with 40 machining
centres for drilling, milling, turning
and sawing. The standardised machinery
is equipped with models of
the latest technology, permitting a
high degree of flexibility and short
production times. The production
range covers both medium-sized
region over the space of 45 years.

Times have become more hectic.
Planning, production and assembly
deadlines are becoming ever tighter.
What was primarily manual work
in the past now requires the latest

help of helicopters, during assembly.

we have. Our regional roots have remained
the basis for our activity all
over the world – and this will continue
to be the case in the future too.
