gan to be installed in August, should reach around one and a half
thousand 33 to 57-inch pre-cure (Smooth-and-Groove) retreaded
OTR tyres within a year of its commissioning. According to Schutte,
as soon as the factory reaches full capacity in 2011, it will be
able to retread approximately
3,000 large and very large
OTR tyres per annum. He
adds that this pre-cure retreading
of giant OTR tyres
represents, to a great extent,
a field trial for Kraiburg
– or, in other words, the
giant tyres for the dump
trucks will usually be manufactured
using the smooth
& groove process rather
than an ordinary mould cure
process, and the mixtures
and treads for use in retread
production in the
Kuzbass are both sourced
from the company’s base in
Geretsberg, Austria. Admittedly,
adds Schutte, it is
feasible that at some time in
the future the tread components
will be manufactured
on-site – using Kraiburg
compounds.
An investor who has injected around eight million euros into
such a project expects to receive customised high end equipment
rather than an “off the rack” facil-ity. This is what Ekoprom Servis
has received, the manager responsible for the project stresses,
pointing out that such a facility will meet the demands of the investor’s
Russian tyre management customers. “For less, Kraiburg
wouldn’t have been the right partner,” Schutte notes. The plant is fitted
out exclusively with equipment from Western market leaders, including
products from VMI-AZ Extrusion, CIMA Impianti, Matteuzzi
or Maschinenbau Scholz. This hardware alone accounted for almost
half the total investment cost.
Included within this equipment list, incidentally, are two prototype
machines; their installation at the site was a world first. The
first of these is, explains Roland Schutte, the so-named “Base Constructor”,
developed together with VMI-AZ Extrusion. Its general
functionality is equivalent to a conventional CTC-Extruder produced
by the Dutch company. However the new Base Constructor, whose
specifications were effectively set out by Kraiburg during its development,
is in many respects more efficient. First and foremost,
casing damage that occurs due to high levels of manual labour is
reduced to a minimum, as the new extruder can easily rebuild tyre
shoulders that were previously completely buffed; thus at this point
they do not need to be ground and repaired. As a result of this alone
handling time is cut by around a quarter of a day, an immense
potential saving. Moreover, the high degree of automation eliminates
the risk of air pockets forming in grinding holes filled with rub-

schen Geretsberg, dem Sitz des Unternehmens. Allerdings, so
Schutte, sei es auch denkbar, dass die Profilsegmente irgendwann
einmal direkt vor Ort gefertigt werden – auf Kraiburg-Mischungen.
Ein Investor, der rund acht Millionen Euro in ein solches Projekt
steckt, erwartet keine Anlagen
„von der Stange“, sondern
High-End-Equipment. Das hat
Ekoprom Servis auch bekommen,
betont der Projektverantwortliche
weiter und weist darauf
hin, dass die russischen
Reifenmanagementkunden des
Investors auch Entsprechendes
verlangt haben. „Für weniger“,
so Schutte, „wäre Kraiburg
auch nicht der richtige Partner
gewesen.“ In der Runderneuerungsstätte
wurde ausschließlich
Equipment von westlichen
Marktführern installiert, etwa
von VMI-AZ Extrusion, CIMA
Impianti, Matteuzzi oder Ma-
schinenbau Scholz aus
Deutschland. Allein die Hardware
hat fast die Hälfte der Investitionskosten
verschlungen.
Darunter befinden sich im
Übrigen auch zwei Prototypen,
die nun weltweit erstmals installiert worden sind. Dies ist zunächst
ein sogenannter „Base Constructor“, der gemeinsam mit VMI-AZ
Extrusion entwickelt worden ist, erklärt Roland Schutte. Seiner
grundsätzlichen Funktionalität nach entspricht der Extruder einem
herkömmlichen CTC-Extruder des holländischen Marktführers.
Allerdings sei der neue Base Constructor, für dessen Entwicklung
Kraiburg quasi das Lastenheft vorgegeben hat, in mehrfacher Hinsicht
effizienter. Zuallererst werde der hohe manuelle Aufwand
durch die Schleifarbeit an den Karkassverletzungen auf ein Minimum
reduziert, da der neue Extruder auch die zuvor komplett abgeraute
Reifenschulter ohne Mühe wieder aufbauen kann; hier muss
also nicht geschliffen und ausgebessert werden. Allein dadurch lasse
sich die Handlingzeit von rund vier auf einen Tag verringern, was
ein immenses Einsparpotenzial bedeutet. Außerdem sorge der hohe
Automatisierungsgrad des Extruders dafür, dass Schleiflöcher komplett
mit Bindegummi verfüllt werden und somit Lufteinschlüsse, die
später zu Problemen mit einem Reifen führen können, ausgeschlossen
sind.
Der zweite Prototyp, der in der neuen von Kraiburg aufgebauten
Runderneuerungsanlage im Kuzbass installiert wurde, ist ein sogenannter
„Strip Builder“, also ein Extruder für das Laufflächengummi.
Der neue Strip Builder leiste einen doppelten Ausstoß, bescheinigt
Schutte, und zeige darüber hinaus auch bei den zu verarbeitenden
High-Performance-Mischungen aus dem Hause Kraiburg keinerlei
Qualitätseinbußen.
