Preface
The Statistical Yearbook is a work of reference whose purpose is to present comprehensible
and illustrative information about social and economic conditions in Denmark.
There are chapters containing summary information about the Faroe Islands and Greenland
and a chapter on international statistics.
The Statistical Yearbook is also a guide to official statistics. In addition there are tabulations
of data compiled by Danish authorities or institutions other than Statistics Denmark
(sources are indicated).
In the present edition of the Statistical Yearbook, which has been supplemented with
new tables, while seven tables are omitted, cf. below. New tables are included on, e.g.
PC and Internet access, sectors for computer activities, service sector, environment,
ecological farms, films shown in cinemas, crimes, newly established business units,
immigrants and their descendants. Furthermore, major alterations have been made in
connection with the compilation of new national accounts and the new household
budget survey.
We always welcome comments and proposals for improvements of the book. Please use
the postcard on page 559 to this end.
The tables in the Statistical Yearbook are compiled by the divisions at Statistics Denmark
which cover the subjects concerned. The present book is edited by Statistics
Denmark's 16th division under the supervision of Mrs. Margrethe Pihl Bisgaard and
Mrs. Mrs. Birgitte Brøndum.
