Installation Instructions:Electrical System for Towing HitchInstalling the electrical kit1. Disconnect the negative battery terminal.2. If necessary, remove the following coverings and panels:• In the luggage trunk- Covering of luggage trunk bottom- Loading edge covering- Covering of the left side of the luggage trunk• On the left-hand side of the vehicle- Access strips- Covering on the left of the steering column- Cover of the fuse carrier3. Remove the vehicle’s 40 mm hole cover on the left of the vehicle’s centre (Fig. 1/6a, PassatSedan, Golf, Golf Plus, Golf Variant, Jetta, Skoda Octavia), on the right of the vehicle’s centre(Fig. 1/6c, Skoda Superb) or below the left tail light (Fig. 1/6b, Passat Variant & Coupé,Touran, Seat Leon) in the rear end plate.4. Fasten the trailer control module to the left-hand side of the luggage trunk (Fig. 1/3) usingfixing screws and nuts provided or some velcro tape. Make sure it is securely fastened!5. As an alternative, the original control unit holder can be ordered for Golf, Golf Plus, PassatSedan under the WESTFALIA part no. 900 001 506 4616. Lay the cable end with the 16-pin plug and the eyelet from the outside through the cableleadthrough to the trailer connection unit (Fig. 1/3).7. Lay the socket end of the cable set to the socket holder plate (Fig. 1/7).Installing the socketOnly for 13-pin trailer socket:8. Insert the rubber grommet into the cable leadthrough (Fig. 1/6).9. Press the contact insert into the socket housing and push the rubber grommet towards thesocket.10. Screw the socket onto the holding plate (Fig. 1/7) using the supplied screws.11. Secure the cable harness using cable ties.Only for 7-pin trailer socket:12. Slip the rubber grommet on the cable harness and adapt its length to the cable.13. The lateral cable outlet at the plug socket housing carefully break off.14. Fit the socket gasket and connect the cable harness to the socket housing in accordance withthe pin assignment plan (Fig. 1/7) and push the rubber grommet against the socket.15. Screw the socket onto the holding plate (Fig. 1/7) using the supplied screws and nuts.16. Secure the cable harness using cable ties.VW Universal 321 600 391 101 - 013 - 26/09 19
