The selection of construction types by theenterprise itself guarantees the best possible representativity of prices forthe respective construction type.In Switzerland if a respondent for a certain period or for a certain constructiontype can only report tender prices, these are adjusted in order tomake them as close as possible to the actual market prices. The size of themaximum rebate, the respondent would grant in order to obtain the contractserves as auxiliary size for adjustment. These adjustments are madeby the respondents. In the areas related to the installation of the heatingandventilation systems as well as sanitary facilities the prices are influencedby the art and size of the single construction type. Therefore, inthese areas only market-based tender prices are collected based on a welldefined,fictitious object.Weights and distributionof weightsTwo types of the weighting structure are established:• Weights for construction components for the calculation of indicesfor the respective construction types. Weights for construction componentsare calculated on the base of the selected construction calculationsobtained from private and public construction companies.In Switzerland e.g. the weighting structure is calculated in close cooperationwith the Institutes for the economy of Construction. Thecalculation of weighting structure covers residential buildings, nonresidentialbuildings and its renovation that was performed in 90tiesand the civil engineering’s projects that have been built within 2years (e.g. 1998-2000). In Germanythe weights are calculated by the external expert based on theevaluation of the selected construction calculations obtained fromprivate and public construction companies. In Austria the weightsare calculated by Statistics Austria based on the tender documentsprovided by the municipalities and authorities in charge of awardingconstruction contracts.• Weights for construction type for the calculation of total indices forconstruction.
