Germany:There are three cases to be distinguished:1) The construction component is unchanged i.e. the services referring tothe construction component are performed in the same manner as in theprevious period.2) Quality change - if the services referring to the construction componentare performed in a different way and the performance conditions deviateto a bigger extend, the achieved market price should be adjusted, toachieve that the art and the quality of the construction component is thesame as it was in the previous period.3) Change of the construction component- the services underlying thiscomponent is not performed any more in the same way and under thesame conditions as in the previous period. The respondents are asked todescribe the new construction component as it is currently performed andis expected to be performed in the future. The respondent is also asked toreport the price for the new component and to estimate the price for therespective component in the previous quarter.Respondents are always requested to state the reasons for the pricechanges in comparison to the previous period to ensure, that only ‘pure’changes in the prices are captured and not possible improvements inquality.Austria and Switzerland:If a predefined construction type is further specified by the respondent theconstruction components should remain the same as far as possible inorder to ensure comparability. The respondents are asked to report anychanges in quality, which affect prices. All changes in quality, purchasepractice (transport costs) or any other changes having an impact on price(e.g. size, dimension etc.) should be eliminated by simple calculation corrections.FrequencyPublication - timingIn Austria and Germany indices are compiled quarterly. In Switzerlandthe indices are compiled every six months and released in April and October. In Austria and Germany indices are published 40 days after the referenceperiod. In Switzerland indices are published up to 3 months after end of the referenceperiod.Method of data collectionThere are two main methods that can be applied by data collection:• pricing of the construction components for real conducted constructiontypes and• Collecting of prices from the call for tenders, where the prices are collectedfor precisely defined construction types. An effort is always made to collect the actual market prices according tothe nomenclature catalogue defined construction types.
