ADMINISTERING INFUSION THERAPY12. The stroke volume ejected from the Squirtcan be adjusted from 0 - 1 ml of fluid by turningthe knurled knob located in the handle. Whenholding the Squirt with the Sherlock connectorpointed away from user, rotate the knob clockwiseto decrease stroke volume. Rotating theknob in a counter-clockwise direction will increasethe stroke volume of the device. (See Figure 11)Adjust the plunger tip to the amount of fluid tobe infused with each stroke by aligning theplunger ring with the gradation marks on theSquirt’s barrel. After activating the trigger oncethe dosage is set and will deliver the sameamount of fluid each time the activation trigger isfully pulled.To infuse the therapeutic solution, depress theSquirt as needed. This procedure should berepeated for the duration of therapy as directedby the physician.<strong>INSTRUCTIONS</strong> <strong>FOR</strong> <strong>USE</strong> WITH ARESERVOIR BAG OR BOTTLEFigure 11Attach tubing connector to the female luerattachment located on the underside portion ofthe Squirt. Make sure the connection is air-tight.Holding the Squirt in an upright position primethe Squirt System in a similar manner to the priminginstructions as listed above. Turn Squirt suchthat the Sherlock connector is pointing up.Repeatedly activate the trigger bar until all air isout of fluid path. This may include tapping theSquirt with a hemostat or similar device. Thedevice is now ready to inject fluid into theFountain Infusion Catheter. (See Figure 12)Caution: Make sure that fluid level in reservoir bagor bottle is continuously monitored so air is notinadvertently injected.I.V. PUMP INFUSION <strong>INSTRUCTIONS</strong>Prime the Fountain Infusion Catheter and hemostasisvalve as described in the previous instructions.Place the catheter, hemostasis valve, andoccluding wire as previously described. Theoccluding wire and catheter should always beplaced under fluoroscopic control.Figure 12Attach the primed hemostasis valve to the I.V. linethat has been primed according to the manufacturer’sinstructions for use. Make sure the connectionis air-tight. Note: The I.V. infusion pump thatis used should have the “occlusion alarm pressurelimit” set at 10 psi or 517mmHg.E6
