9. The Squirt should be activated so heparinizedsaline from the 20 ml reservoir syringe comesthrough the back end cap of the hemostasisvalve. (See Figure 8) When all the air has been displaced,the back end cap should be tightenedonto the proximal end of the occluding wire.PRIMING THE SYSTEM WITHTHERAPEUTIC SOLUTION10. If the clinician wishes to conserve thrombolyticmedication, the Squirt should be primed asinstructed previously.Turn the Squirt until the syringe is pointing down.(See Figure 9) Remove the priming reservoirsyringe that is loaded with sterile saline. Fill asyringe with thrombolytic solution.Figure 8Using the thrombolytic solution syringe, place asmall amount of thrombolytic solution into thefemale luer connector of the Squirt. This willcause a small meniscus of therapeutic solution tobe placed on the female luer connector. (SeeFigure 10)Attach the syringe loaded with therapeuticsolution. (See Figure 10) Make sure that the connectionis air-tight.11. Prime the entire system with therapeuticsolution by depressing the Squirt.
