Afd. for Husdyrsundhed og Velfærd
Afdelingen skal bidrage til udviklingen
af produktions- og staldsystemer, der forbedrer
husdyrenes sundhed og velfærd,
og produktkvalitet, arbejdsmiljø og jordbrugets
indtjening. Afdelingen udvikler
metoder til velfærdsvurdering, sundhedsstyring
og sundhedsøkonomi på besætningsniveau.
Forskningen omfatter endvidere
kortlægning af dyrenes adfærd,
adfærdsmæssige behov, stressfysiologiske
reaktionsmønstre og tilpasningsevne.

Forskning i husdyrenes immunsystemer
skal reducere grad og hyppighed af tabsvoldende
infektionssygdomme. Med henblik
på at reducere de produktionsbetingede
sygdomme forsøger afdelingen at
klarlægge, hvorledes genotype, ernæring,
fysiologi, driftsledelse og staldsystemer
influerer på disse.
Målet er at bidrage til udvikling af
redskaber, der kan anvendes i en konstruktiv
dialog mellem jordbrug og samfund
om husdyrenes forhold.
