Juni er tiden for begivenheder, der kan få mænd og kvinder til at skrige, både af begejstring og af rædsel. På den lille skærm derhjemme i stuen er der fodbold i lange grønsværbaner, når VM i herrefodbold løber af stablen, og på det store lærred i biograferne dominerer i denne måned Sex and the City 2-fi lmen. Som en vis reklame lyder, så ”er der så meget, kvinder ikke forstår”, når det kommer til fascinationen af fodbold. Og det samme gør sig vel gældende den anden vej rundt. Der er så meget mænd ikke forstår, når det kommer til den endeløse begejstring for sko-samlinger, powershopping og evige veninde-sludder, som SATC-universet skildrer. Spørgsmålet er, hvad mænd egentlig kunne lære - om kvinder - hvis de forstod? Udover, selvfølgelig, at opdage hvad mystiske ord som Manolo Blahnik og Jimmy Choo er (dyre skomærker, til info for den fyr, der endnu ikke har set SATC). Eller at kvinder bruger langt fl ere penge på tøj og sko, end de helt vil være ved og indimellem måske benytter sig af skabstricket. Det vil sige smider deres nyin<strong>dk</strong>øb ind i skabet for at hive dem frem ved en senere lejlighed, hvor de (næsten ærligt) kan sige: ”Ny? Ork nej, det er en gammel sag, jeg bare har haft liggende i skabet.” Eller at dét at slå op ved at efterlade en gul post-it-seddel bare ikke er i orden. En ordentlig mand med los cujones intakte gør det ansigt til ansigt. End of discussion! For der er en grund til, at Sex and the City har vundet en så stærk genklang hos millioner af kvinder verden over, at den er blevet et af de mest indfl ydelsesrige popkulturelle fænomener i nyere tid. Dels fordi de fl este sider af en kvinde, både de grimme og de lækre, er afspejlet i en af de fi re hove<strong>dk</strong>arakterer, Carrie, Miranda, Samantha og Charlotte. Og dels fordi de fi re kvinder hver går igennem situationer og problematikker med mænd, karriere og veninder, som er genkendelige for os. På den måde har Sex and the City vist, at singlekvinder i trediverne hverken er ”stakkels” eller ”desperate”, men stærke, selvstændige skabninger med en sexappetit, der ikke lader mændene noget efter. I diverse dameblade har anonyme mænd da også udtalt, at de lige frem har lært fi ffi ge sex-tricks ved at se serien. Så et godt råd til manden, der vil vide mere om sin kæreste: Se hele serien - gerne alle 94 afsnit! - med hende og se hvordan hun reagerer på de forskellige episoder. Han vil på den måde, med garanti, komme rundt om stort set alle spørgsmål i et forhold. Og så skal han vide, at han kan være stensikker på én ting, som sandsynligvis kan give de fl este mænd koldsved ned ad ryggen: Alt hvad der foregår imellem dig og din kæreste eller bare hende du dater eller hende du har haft et engangsknald med, bliver endevendt i detaljer med hendes veninder. Og det gælder både de søde eller dumme ting, du siger og sms’er, dine kundskaber ud i lagengymnastikken og ja, (gisp) størrelsen på dit vedhæng.
