A very unusual type of ship was recently completed
by Marstrands mekaniska Yerkstad, Marstrand,
Sweden, for A/S • Kosangas, Copenhagen, for the purpose
of carrying butane and propane gas« Mr. Martin
Nielsen, Copenhagen, was responsible for the preliminary
design. The ship was built to the requirements
of the highest class Bureau Yeritass and the
following are the particulars:

The ship, which is named "Rasmus Tholstrup"
will carry 320 tons of liquefied gas in 12 containers,
housed on the tank top. The gas fittings are
tested to a pressure of 28 atmospheres. For handling
the cargo two 60-kW. electrically-driven compressors
are installed and two pumps coupled to
50-kW. motors.
All the is arranged aft and is on attractive
lines. In the captain's room and saloon and the
owner's room, the panelling is of elm and the
wheelhouse and chartroom are panelled in teak. The
shipyard constructed the bridge house and bridge,
the after mast and the lifeboats, all of which are
of light alloy.
The new vessel is equipped with radar, gyro
Compass, echo sounder, wireless telephony, wireless
direction finder and a Clear-View screen.
The windlass, wineh and capstan are hydraulxcally
operated.
The propelling engine is an eight-cylinder
four-stroke unit of 520 b.h.p. at 375 r.p.m. and
is directly coupled to the shaft. There are two
Diesel-engined generaltors of 38-kW., also one of
18-kW. and another of 3-3
