HANDELS- OG SØFARTSMUSEET<br />
PÅ KROMBORG<br />
A very unusual type of ship was recently completed<br />
by Marstrands mekaniska Yerkstad, Marstrand,<br />
Sweden, for A/S • Kosangas, Copenhagen, for the purpose<br />
of carrying butane and propane gas« Mr. Martin<br />
Nielsen, Copenhagen, was responsible for the preliminary<br />
design. The ship was built to the requirements<br />
of the highest class Bureau Yeritass and the<br />
following are the particulars:<br />

The ship, which is named "Rasmus Tholstrup"<br />
will carry 320 tons of liquefied gas in 12 containers,<br />
housed on the tank top. The gas fittings are<br />
tested to a pressure of 28 atmospheres. For handling<br />
the cargo two 60-kW. electrically-driven compressors<br />
are installed and two pumps coupled to<br />
50-kW. motors.<br />
All the is arranged aft and is on attractive<br />
lines. In the captain's room and saloon and the<br />
owner's room, the panelling is of elm and the<br />
wheelhouse and chartroom are panelled in teak. The<br />
shipyard constructed the bridge house and bridge,<br />
the after mast and the lifeboats, all of which are<br />
of light alloy.<br />
The new vessel is equipped with radar, gyro<br />
Compass, echo sounder, wireless telephony, wireless<br />
direction finder and a Clear-View screen.<br />
The windlass, wineh and capstan are hydraulxcally<br />
operated.<br />
The propelling engine is an eight-cylinder<br />
four-stroke unit of 520 b.h.p. at 375 r.p.m. and<br />
is directly coupled to the shaft. There are two<br />
Diesel-engined generaltors of 38-kW., also one of<br />
18-kW. and another of 3-3
