KAJ FRANCK TEEMA MED VARIATIONER WITH VARIATIONS
TAKO-KORT TAKO CARDS ”TRE FINSKE KUNSTHÅNDVÆRKERE”, 1956
Kaj Franck benyttede sig, efter japansk inspiration,
af såkaldte Tako-kort (11 x 15 cm).
På de små kort var der alt fra skitser til
mere tekniske tegninger, og de er en fin
dokumentation af hans designproces. Takokortene
indgik som et vigtigt pædagogisk
middel i undervisningen, og kunne også
bruges i forbindelse med udveksling af
ideer blandt kolleger.
The Japanese inspiration is also reflected in
Kaj Franck’s use of the so-called Tako cards
(11 x 15 cm). He used these little cards for
anything from sketches to more technical
drawings, and today they offer documentation
of his design process. As a teacher, he
used the Tako cards as an important educational
tool, and they were also useful for
exchanging ideas among colleagues.

I 1956 præsenterede Kunstindustrimuseet
Kaj Franck på udstillingen ”Tre finske kunsthåndværkere”.
Efterfølgende blev udstillingen
vist i Ålborg. Begge steder blev den
et tilløbsstykke, og Francks kunsthåndværk
og design viste nye veje. Som anmelderen
på Dagens Nyheder formulerede det: ”Det
er Ting til at tage i Haanden og bruge. Ingen
Stil-hysteri, men Enkelhed og Menneskelighed,
og alligevel efterkommes Kravet til
udsøgt Form og gode Dimensioner i disse
Arbejder.”

In 1956 the Museum of Art & Design presented
Kaj Franck in the exhibition “Tre
finske kunsthåndværkere” (Three Finnish
makers). Subsequently, the exhibition was
presented in the Danish town of Ålborg. Both
presentations drew a large audience, and
Franck’s crafts objects and designs helped
indicate new directions. To quote the critic
of the newspaper Dagens Nyheder: “There
are things one can pick up and use. No
hysterical style mania but instead a simple
and human approach, yet still, these works
meet the demand for exquisite form and
good dimensions.”
