Akkurat da kriminalbetjent James Carter (Chris Tucker) tror han skal
være på en velfortjent ferie i Hong Kong, dukker en betent sak opp: en
bombeeksplosjon på den amerikanske ambassaden. Han og
inspektøren fra the Royal Hong Kong Police, Lee (Jackie Chan) blir satt
på på sakeen. Carter er på utebane og vil heller bruke ferien på damer,
