replaced in the cot, their feet having been carefully washed and disinfected<br />

in the manner above indicated.<br />

2. The infected dung, removed on the cleansing of the cot shall, be buried,<br />

and must be transported to the burial place in a tight fitting conveyance,<br />

it being carefully seen that none falls out<br />

3. The animals attacked by the disease must not be removed beyond the<br />

place in which they are isolated so long as the disease lasts.<br />

4. Each person who enters the place where the animals are isolated must<br />

wear special foot gear which shall, subsequently, be destroyed.<br />

5. Should malignant foot-rot occur amongst a stock, only those sheep may be<br />

taken to c<strong>om</strong>mon grazing grounds which have not had any connection<br />

whatsoever, either direct or indirect, with sick sheep, <strong>for</strong> the space of<br />

1 month, and this can only first be permitted after it has been confirmed,<br />

fr<strong>om</strong> a strict examination, that the sheep are entirely sound, and after their<br />

being subjected to disinfection, as above prescribed, immediately previous<br />

to their departure <strong>for</strong> the pastures.<br />

6. Whensoever fresh cases occur amongst the stock, the owner is obliged to<br />

call in a Veterinary Surgeon at once, or report the outbreak to the Police.<br />

7. The sale of live animals fr<strong>om</strong> an affected stock must not take place <strong>for</strong> at<br />

least one month after a Veterinary Surgeon declares the disease to have<br />

ceased, and that each and all have been carefully disinfected. In eases<br />

where a Veterinary Surgeon is not to be met with then there must<br />

elapse one quarter of a year fr<strong>om</strong> the time that any traces of the disease<br />

were observed. Sheep which are slaughtered fr<strong>om</strong> an infected stock, shall<br />

after slaughtering have all four legs cut off and buried.<br />

8. Inspection of the infected stock shall take place as often as the Veterinary<br />

Surgeon concerned may deem it necessary, though not oftener than once<br />

a week.<br />

9. Previous to introducing restored animals to a healthy flock, they must be<br />

kept <strong>for</strong> observation in a separate place <strong>for</strong> a period of 3 weeks, after<br />

that all their feet have been carefully examined, and after that they have<br />

been carefully disinfected.<br />

These Regulations shall c<strong>om</strong>e into <strong>for</strong>ce at once.<br />

The «Regulations to be observed in respect to malignant Foot-rot in sheep»<br />

of 11th January 1876, issued by me are at the same time cancelled.<br />
