period facts it is possible for the one photo to appear new, original. This is
also the way that new avant-garde trends are born. However, each thought
and idea are already here and nothing is outside the awareness. It all depends
on the way of seeing that is a kind of feeling. It’s absolutely natural and it’s
up to me how honest I am being with myself, the more honest I am the more
truthful the photograph is. Sometimes my friends call me Trendy Rendy.
DO YOU TRAVEL?
I visited Germany and Hungary several times. I went to France and Russia
once but I don’t necessarily need to travel in order to see the unseen, hear
the unheard-of, taste divine food or touch miracles. Life for me isn’t straightforwardly
connected with any particular place in the world. Instead it is a
conscious expression of any being here and now that includes all the worlds
and understanding that we ourselves are the world. That doesn’t mean,
however, that I can’t roam freely where I need to be. I can hop on my bike
and go to find the right place “in the world“ that speaks to me. For instance,
in Prague in Kavčí Hory, in Vyšehrad or Prokopské údolí, in Kaňk near Kutná
Hora, in Týnec nad Labem, in Kolín or in Železné Hory and picture it or set a
still life up at home where the whole world comes to me.
IS YOUR SON A PHOTOGRAPHER TOO?

friends about his trip to Catalonia. He’s eager to visit all the places on his
travels, he wants to name them, photograph them and is unhappy because
there’s just not enough time for him to do it all. I tell him it’s normal. Paradoxically,
he’s often being called the walking encyclopedia. Sometimes he
carries cameras with tripods for me just to watch me work, wanting to learn
something new.

my mother: “So, what’s his name going to be? He looks like a Peter.” But
she wanted to call me something special, so she flicked through the French
calendar and her choice was sure. There were not many Renés then. We
would celebrate my name day on the 11th of November according to the
French calendar. These days, with the name being more frequent, our name
day is on the 28th of November. Apparently, it means “reborn”. I was teased
quite often because of my name at high school by schoolmates who used
to sing me Schelinger´s song: “Rene, me and Rudolph go to play golf” but I
