Health and Safety Update
Is your Annual Gas Safety Inspection up to date?
A number of practices that I have visited seem to miss this, but it is one of the most important factors to consider. If your practice has gas and does not have and in-date
gas safety inspection, please instruct a local gas safety engineer immediately to carry one out. There is a legal requirement on you to have all gas appliances safety
checked by a registered engineer annually and you also need to maintain gas pipework and flues in a safe condition. This is UK law.
Safety Media Online Training
Most staff (except for those whom have recently joined IVC) should be well on their way to completing, or have already completed the five
courses on Safety Media. I know it may seem like a pain or feel like it’s a “next week” kind of job because we’re all too busy, but remember it is
for your benefit as well as IVC’s. Personally, I think this is a great tool to ensure all staff are fully aware of how to avoid H&S dangers etc
throughout the workplace and a great way to provide a written record (not to mention the snazzy certificate you get when you pass ). It also
has the added bonus that by using Safety Media's H&S training, you can add CPD Credits to your personal development scheme.
If you haven’t already completed it, put some time aside, make a brew and enjoy!
Accident Statistics
There is a new way to send your results in! (details were sent by Becky Blackmore last month) via Google Survey.
These are to be submitted every quarter (at the end of Mar/Jun/Sept/Dec) so please don’t forget as the statistics
enable us to evaluate group wide incidents and implement any improvements where necessary.
Remember, all employees have a duty to take care of their own health and safety and that of others who may
be affected by your actions at work. If an employee notices anything that may affect yourself or anyone
around you at work it is their responsibility, as well as the employers, to report it.
If you have any queries, please do not hesitate to
contact me and I will gladly assist.
